Regan Kimens commits to Merrimack for 2019

Regan Kimens gave the Merrimack men’s hockey team a verbal commitment on Monday. Kimens, a 1999-born forward from Ontario, is currently in his second season in the British Columbia Hockey League.

In 19 games this season for the Coquitlam Express, Kimens has 19 points (6 goals, 13 assists). Last season Kimens was a rookie in the BCHL, scoring 19 points (10 goals, 9 assists) in 48 games for the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Kimens has won a league championship in each of his last three seasons. Last year, Kimens was part of a Chiefs team that claimed the RBC Cup. Prior to that, Kimens won two CISAA championships in consecutive seasons with St. Andrew’s College.

A fourth-round selection of the Owen Sound Attack in the 2015 OHL Draft, Kimens appeared in 138 games for St. Andrew’s prior to joining the BCHL. In those 138 games, Kimens scored 57 goals and added 55 assists for 112 points.

Kimens is a former teammate of fellow Merrimack recruit Evan McIntyre, a defenseman who committed this past summer out of St. Andrew’s.
