Sami Tavernier Signs with Chamonix

Sami Tavernier, who graduated from Merrimack this past spring, has signed a contract with Chamonix in Ligue Magnus, the top pro division in France.

Tavernier began his pro career on an ATO with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) following his senior season at Merrimack last March.

According to a release from the team, Tavernier plans to return to the United States and play on an AHL deal once health restrictions are lifted and he’s allowed to return to the U.S.

Tavernier made his debut in an exhibition game this week against Grenoble, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Tavernier finished his Merrimack career appearing in 139 games, scoring 26 goals and adding 50 assists for 76 points.
