Stephane Da Costa Signs with Ak Bars

Ak Bars Kazan (KHL) announced this week that they have signed former Merrimack forward Stephane Da Costa.

Da Costa is a veteran of the KHL, just completing his sixth season in the league. This past season with Lokomotiv Yaroslav, the 30-year-old forward scored 14 goals and added 21 assists in 58 games. He has appeared in 210 career KHL games, scoring 82 goals and adding 97 assists for 179 total points.

Da Costa signed with the Ottawa Senators after his sophomore season at Merrimack in 2011. He spent three years in Ottawa’s system, appearing in 47 NHL games, before going overseas to play in the KHL. Da Costa’s deal with Ak Bars is for one year.
