Three Merrimack recruits selected in USHL Phase II Draft


Three Merrimack recruits were selected in the USHL Phase II Draft on Tuesday. The USHL Draft is broken into two phases, with Phase I taking place Monday night for all under-17 players (2003-born players). The Phase II Draft was conducted the following day and all junior-eligible players, who do not have their USHL rights currently owned, are eligible to be picked.

Casey Severo was Merrimack’s top pick, with Tri-City taking Severo in the fifth round. Severo had 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists) in 29 games for Nobles this past season. Matt MacDonald, who won an ECEL Championship with Boston Advantage this past season, was selected by the Fargo Force in the sixth round and the Force also selected defenseman Nolan Barrett in the 12th round. Barret had 23 points (6 goals, 17 assists) in 25 games for Skipjacks in the USPHL this past season.
