Tom – I was watching that as well. I know PC folks were worried about ticket sales with their hoops team at MSG. That takes priority over the majority of people on campus, so the longer that PC is in the hoops tourney, the less likely big crowds will be.

If we can make the Garden I think we need to really just punch them in the mouth. Get on them early. We need to win game 1 too. I can’t see us winning two in a row.

  54. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:08 pm

Winning Game 1 is critical for most road teams. Although it didn’t work out for UNH this past week.

  55. Brad

Who do you think have been the best players for Merrimack this season?

  56. GoMackWarrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:09 pm

Funny how the same people chime in on who’s playing .. Or who should play..

  57. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:10 pm

Brad – it’s been different players at different times, I think. Earlier in the year, Delia was huge for them. More recently Vogler has been excellent. Petti and Foget, along with the Babcock line have been great recently.

  58. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:10 pm

I think on the entire season, Christie, Bahe, Kolquist, Biega, Seney have been their five most consistent players.

  59. Tom Goodwin

    March 10, 2016 at 9:10 pm

D steady all year. Kolquist and Biega are rocks

  60. Western Warrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:11 pm

Do you think Delia challenges for the starting job next year?

  61. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:11 pm

    Tom – absolutely.

  62. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:12 pm

Western – 100% he does. I’ve said it a million times, you don’t just forget how to play the position. He struggled down the stretch, but so did the entire team. Let’s not forget that the team in general has played much better recently here. Vogler was the first to admit that last week.

    • GoMackWarrior

      March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

Agreeable … You simply can’t negate the fact how poorly the team was playing infont or Delia …

  63. Western Warrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:12 pm

I think so too. He’s so athletic

  64. MCWarrior1011

    March 10, 2016 at 9:12 pm

Having 2 good goalies is a nice problem

  65. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:13 pm

I’ve heard people say that when you have two goalies, you don’t have any. I disagree. I think a healthy competition there is good, and makes both guys better. Believe me, I’m sure the competition for playing time helped make Vogler better over the course of this season.

  66. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:13 pm

Sometimes you have to ride the hot hand as well. Look at Vogler’s numbers over the past 10 or so games. You have to ride that.

  67. Western Warrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:14 pm

Do you have a sense for how Delia has handled it?

  68. Brad

    March 10, 2016 at 9:14 pm

Anyone you think will leave early and not come back next season?

  69. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:14 pm

He’s handled it excellently. Just watch. He’s banging the boards on every save, he was one of the first ones over to Vogler this past weekend after the wins (and the loss), as well as charging down to the student section after the win.

  70. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:15 pm

Brad – Next season? No. I think there is potential for someone like Seney to get pressure to sign after his junior year, but this year I would be somewhat surprised.

  71. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

There’s a possibility LeBlanc signs, if Ottawa doesn’t want to lose him to free agency. He’s played better recently. Seney I think NJD is OK with him developing in college. As for UFAs, maybe Hampus Gustafsson? Biega is going to start to get attention next year too, I would think. Especially with more offensive totals.

  72. Brad

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

    So not LeBlanc or Hampus?

  73. Tom Goodwin

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

The only other early departure possibility I was thinking of this year is Hampus. I really hope not. He came along late in the season.

  74. MCWarrior1011

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

    What do you mean UFAS?

  75. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

Unrestricted free agents, in terms of the NHL.

  76. MCWarrior1011

    March 10, 2016 at 9:16 pm

    ah ok

  77. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm

I think LeBlanc and Gustafsson are the two most likely as far as early departures. But I would be slightly surprised with both. All depends on how much NHL teams value that size.

  78. Western Warrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm

Back in my day if you were 6-4 and could skate you wouldn’t last past your sophomore year

  79. MCWarrior1011

    March 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm

Like Matt Jones! He signed because he was big.

  80. Tom Goodwin

    March 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm

UNH loses top scorer, Maine loses best D man. We should be well positioned for next year if the team can keep up its confidence.

  81. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm

True on Jones, but he also had 15 goals (I believe) as a sophomore in HEA on a so-so team.

  82. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:19 pm

I think MC should be improved next year, with so many underclassmen. UNH should be worse, UVM should be worse. UConn, we just don’t know and a lot depends on what happens with Letunov and Thompson, if they sign. UMass is going to take time to rebuild.

  83. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Although I think UMass, playing under a better structure/system, could be better next year.

  84. Tom Goodwin

    March 10, 2016 at 9:20 pm

Maybe the gap between top six and bottom six won’t be as large next year.

  85. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:21 pm

I think the top could still be very top-heavy. BU is going to be excellent, so is BC.

  86. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:21 pm

UML and ND are the wild cards. PC I think will take a step back, with so many seniors.

  87. Tom Goodwin

who is Providence’s most underrated player? Like the guy we need to watch that you wouldn’t notice looking at their stats? Anyone?

  90. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:23 pm

Kevin Rooney. He causes headaches for the line he’s matched up against. Just go back and look at the National Championship game last year.

  91. MCWarrior1011

    March 10, 2016 at 9:25 pm

  93. Mike McMahon

    March 10, 2016 at 9:26 pm

Very good. He’s only a few percentage points below Jon Gillies last year, as far as save percentage.

  94. Western Warrior

    March 10, 2016 at 9:27 pm

Yeah, I think if we win here it is two really low scoring games.

  95. Mike McMahon
