  1. I wouldn’t say that though, Western. Especially in a rink like Merrimack’s, getting on teams on the forecheck and banging some bodies is a big advantage. It should be part of their identity.

  2. You need to be skilled as well, but just recruiting “skill” guys is part of what got them into trouble the last few years, IMO. If that skill doesn’t translate, players need to be able to bring something else. Rhett Bly, the scoring didn’t translate to college but he was a hard worker and carved out a role for himself.

  3. Tibbet has the speed to get to the net. Hampus and Seney have the skill to compliment each other. 2 big guys with Seney opens up the ice too

  4. Tanner Creel has been his replacement and has been nothing more than OK. He has an .889 save percentage and got lit up by Sacred Heart. Steve Thulin, a sophomore, played against Brown on Tuesday and played really well — I think he made 30 saves — in a 3-1 win.

  5. They cut Piccinich. They are a bunch of punks. Best thing we did as a program was get rid of that used car salesman Albie O’Connell.

  7. I think that they can get at least six. If they are a home-ice team, they will need to beat UConn, and then split with Maine and UVM. BC, if you get anything out of that weekend it’s a bonus.

  9. But that said, I also don’t think getting more than two points against Maine is out of the question. I know they just swept UMass, but like I said earlier UMass strikes me as a team that has given up.

  11. In the standings you predicted you have Merrimack vs. UNH at Merrimack. That would be good for redemption with them beating us.

  12. tom – I have to imagine so. The AD there hasn’t been afraid to make changes, he’s new, and it also appears and sounds like the alumni base is starting to get restless. You look at their record – they have only won ONE game since Merrimack was at Mullins in the middle of Nov., and that was against Army – I think he could be in trouble.

  14. UMass has allowed the third-most goals in the country this year. Only ASU and AIC have allowed more. And ASU is tied with UMass. So you take out the 10-0 game vs. MC, and UMass is second-worst behind AIC in the country.

  16. Halladay does seem like a solid pickup. You build teams from the net out. It seems like they always try to invest in two scholarship goalies as a time, so he lines up as Delia’s replacement.

  18. He does, but there’s always the chance that Delia signs early. He has already been to Toronto’s development camp. Also, Halladay is a ’96, I think, so he can’t come any later than 2017. Worst case scenario is you have an extra goalie for one year.

  20. He was released from the NLI. From what I hear, it was mutual. They were bringing in other goalies and it was talked about and he was released from the NLI to pursue other options.
