Tortorella Leading Candidate at Harvard

Merrimack director of hockey operations Jim Tortorella is said to be the leading candidate to replace Paul Pearl at Harvard as an assistant coach on Ted Donato‘s staff. Pearl left Harvard last month to join Albie O’Connell at Boston University.

Tortorella has only been with the Warriors since the spring, joining the program when Scott Borek was hired as the head coach. Tortorella was the head coach at Saint Anselm last season and was a longtime head coach at Colby College; he also has experience as a Division I assistant with New Hampshire and Providence.

Tortorella, a former goalie at Maine, brings valuable head-coaching experience with him to Harvard, which is something Donato was said to have desired in an assistant after losing Pearl (a former head coach at Holy Cross) to BU.
