Uens moves up in NHL Central Scouting rankings

Merrimack recruit Zach Uens has moved up in the final NHL Central Scouting rankings for the 2019 NHL Draft which will be held in June.

Uens was ranked No. 130 in the final rankings among North American skaters. The 17-year-old defenseman was ranked No. 138 in the mid-term rankings and is projected to be selected around the fifth round of the draft.

Uens is expected to arrive at Merrimack this upcoming fall. This season he appeared in 52 games (regular season and playoffs) for the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he scored eight goals and added 23 assists from the blue line.

Uens will turn 18 years old in May, about one month prior to the draft. This season he has the third-most points among U18 defensemen in the OJHL, but he missed eight games due to injury and he’s just eight points off the leader.
