Zach Bookman, an ’02 defenseman from New York, committed to Merrimack College on Monday night.

Bookman is a puck-moving defenseman who played last season for Fayetteville-Manlius High in New York while also playing split-season midget hockey with the Rochester Coalition. Bookman had 26 points (9 goals, 17 assists) for Fayetteville-Manlius last season and had 61 points in 111 games for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in 2017-18.

Bookman is committed to Millbrook Prep in New York for this upcoming season; he was receiving interest from other Hockey East schools as well, per sources.

“Smaller defender that has a strong base,” noted Neutral Zone scouts. “Great skater and uses his legs to defend. Looks to constantly jump up in the play and create offense. Great edges to escape pressure and retrieves the puck well.

Bookman has been added to our Merrimack Men’s Hockey Recruit Chart.
