RIDGE, N.H. – Paced by four top-10 finishers, the Merrimack College women’s cross country team took first place on Saturday at the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, which was hosted by Franklin Pierce.

How It Happened
Junior Kristin Schmidt’s (Athens, N.Y.) fourth-place finish made her the first Warrior to cross the finish line on Saturday, finishing the 4k course in a time of 16:34.
Her classmate, Kerry Phelan (Peabody, Mass.), took seventh place with a time of 17:14; freshman Kylie Reardon (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Claire Aalerud (Winchester, Mass.) rounded out Merrimack’s top-10 finishers, taking ninth and 10th place respectively. Reardon and Aalerud finished in a close pack with Phelan, crossing the line at 17:20 and 17:23.
Four more Warriors crossed the line in the next 11 spots, as Merrimack finished with eight of the top-21 finishers.
Randa Griffin (West Hartford, Conn.), Tiana Kibbe (Cranston, R.I.), Katie Irwin (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Caitlin Pigott (Arlington, Mass.) all rounded out Merrimack’s top finishers on the afternoon.
