How It Happened
In Game 1, both sides’ starting pitching was locked and loaded, as neither team mustered any offense through six and a half innings.
That changed in the bottom of the sixth, as Franklin Pierce finally untied the game with a run, but that would only spur a furious Warrior rally in the top of the seventh. Needing at least a run to stave off a loss, Gibbs smashed her second home run of the season to tie the game before Post followed up with her first long ball since her freshman season, as the back-to-back jacks sparked a four-run inning to complete the comeback victory.
Game 2 recap and box scores will be posted later tonight.
Merrimack continues divisional play on Monday, April 6, against one of the top teams in the conference – and country – as the Warriors head to Manchester to meet up with No. 20 Southern New Hampshire for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
