Braga Qualifies for Decathlon at 2018 Division II NCAA Outdoor Championships

Merrimack College men’s track & field senior John Braga will represent the Warriors in the 2018 Division II NCAA Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 24-26 on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University. Braga will be competing in the decathlon.

Braga is entering the Championships eighth on the qualifying list for the decathlon. He recently won at the New England Outdoor Championships on May 12, while being crowned Northeast-10 Conference Champion for the decathlon back on May 5. It was the fourth time in his career winning the decathlon at the NE10 championships, where broke the previous meet record he had set in 2015.

Braga will be competing in his second time competing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He placed eighth in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon with a score of 7,013 points.

The decathlon will be spread out over the first two days. On Thursday May 24, Braga will be starting at 10:30 a.m. with the 100m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400m dash. Friday’s portion of the decathlon will begin at 9:30 am with the final five events.
