Merrimack’s Michaela Pernell Earns All-American Status in Two Events at Indoor Nationals

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Merrimack College women’s track & field junior Michaela Pernell earned All-American status at the Division II NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, after placing seventh in the 200m dash and eighth in the 60m dash.

How it Happened:

  • In the 200m dash, the junior finished in seventh place overall in the event. Her final time was 24.36 seconds. She finished behind Atiya Harvey from San Francisco State and ahead of Kelsey Lewis from Pittsburg State.
  • Pernell finished with a time of 7.58 seconds in the 60m dash, four one hundredths of a second behind Kayla Foy from Winston-Salem State.
  • Pernell wrapped up an indoor season with a pair of Northeast-10 Conference Championships in both the 60m and 200m dashes, where she was named Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the meet. She was also a four time NE10 Track Athlete of the Week.

Up Next:
Pernell will enjoy some time off before she and the rest of the Merrimack College track & field teams begin the outdoor season in Bridgewater, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 24.
