Six Student-Athletes Receive Senior LEAD Awards

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack College announced its recipients of its 2020 LEAD Senior Awards on Friday, and six senior student-athletes received various honors. 

Senior Charlie Bertrand from the men’s lacrosse program and senior Jackie Ireland of the women’s soccer program were named the Male and Female Rafferty Award winners. The Rafferty Award recognizes one graduating male and female student-athlete for their immense success both athletically and in the classroom.

Senior Alexis Miedico from the field hockey team earned the Joseph P. Daley Award, which is bestowed in recognition of outstanding character and unheralded service to the Merrimack community.

Seniors Taylor Galusha from women’s swimming, Rosie Sperduto of women’s volleyball and Alyssa Torres from women’s basketball all received the Travis G. Kong Student Leadership Award, which is awarded in recognition of outstanding service to the Merrimack College community.

 


Rafferty Awards

Award Description: The Rafferty Award is given to one male and one female student-athlete who stand out as premiere scholar athletes. He/she is a significant contributor on the playing field, and they excel in the classroom and in the community.
Winners: Charlie Bertrand (Men’s Lacrosse) & Jackie Ireland (Women’ Soccer)


Joseph P. Daley Award

Award Description: Awarded in recognition of outstanding character and unheralded service to the Merrimack community.
Winner: Alexis Miedico (Field Hockey)


Travis G. Kong Student Leadership Award
