GOLF: Merrimack Finishes Eighth at Michael Corbett Classic

ERIE, Pa. – The Merrimack College women’s golf team placed three golfers in the top-25 overall, while finishing in eighth out of 18 teams at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic, in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday and Monday.

How It Happened
Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) led the Warriors with a two-round total of 158 and finished in 10th overall. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native tallied a two-over 74 on the par-72 course in the second round, as she trimmed 10 strokes off her first-day performance. Knight’s 74 was the lowest round by any Warrior in the two-day tournament. She has competed in three rounds and has carded 74s in two of them.

Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) finished second for the Warriors and tied for 17th overall, as she fired a two-day total of 163 (75-88). Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) finished in a tie for 25th overall, with an 86-81-167 ledger.

Junior captain Sam Gervais (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot a 175 (85-90), while placing 46th in the field. Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) finished tied for 52nd, while firing a 177 (90-87).

Rounding out the competitors, sophomore Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) finished in a tie for 59th overall (91-88-179) and sophomore Kristen Gamble (Manlius, N.Y.)finished in 83rd overall, as she fired a 96 on the second day, while trimming seven strokes off her first-day performance. Five Warriors improved their scores on the second day of the tournament.
