BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The Merrimack College women’s golf program played its fourth of five fall tournaments over this past weekend, competing in the 11-team Hartford Invitational at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield, Conn.
Freshman Jacquelyn Stiles shot the lowest round of the tournament for the Warriors, posting an opening-round 77 to sit in 17th place after Saturday’s action. Sophomore Jordan Laplume totaled the best cumulative effort on the weekend, finishing with a 160 to finish among the top-30 individuals. Merrimack ranked in 10th as a team, overall.

How It Happened
- After the first round, Merrimack sat in eighth place among a field of Division I programs. Stiles’ effort stole the show as she shot the best round of her young career. Laplume shot her first 80 of the two rounds while freshman Alexandra Tomasso and graduate student Nina Harrington each posted scores of 83
- Laplume led the Warriors as she has all season on Sunday, replicating her score of 80. Tomasso improved her score by three strokes on the final round, shooting an 80 to tie Laplume for the team’s best score on the day
- Sophomore Janelle Bryant rounded out Merrimack’s five competitors on the weekend as Merrimack entered four underclassmen in the tournament

Merrimack will be off the links for three weeks, returning to action for one more fall tournament on Oct. 20-21 when the Warriors play in the Sacred Heart Fall Classic in Milford, Conn.
