’03 Maddie Gagliano Commits to Merrimack Women’s Hockey

The Merrimack women’s hockey team received a verbal commitment from ’03-born forward Maddie Gagliano.

Gagliano currently plays for the Chicago Mission U14 team; she’s expected to arrive in North Andover in 2021.

Last spring, Gagliano played for Team USA’s first-ever National Women’s Deaf Ice Hockey team (see video above).

“You can show you’re deaf instead of hiding it,” said Gagliano.

The rink was equipped with small lights to signify for players when whistles were blown. According to a story in The Daily Herald last year, Gagliano has “partial hearing loss because of the bone structure in her left ear, but she has full hearing in her right ear.”
