The Merrimack College women’s soccer team made its return to North Andover and stepped on the field bright and early on Monday morning to begin their first practices this week ahead of the 2016 season.
The Navy and Gold will gear up for the 2016 season and home opener on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. when they host Molloy in the first matchup of the Merrimack Kickoff Classic
The Warriors will look to eight returning starters from the 2015 roster, highlighted by senior captains Megan Gada(Bozrah, Conn.) and Julia Heffernan (Westborough, Mass.), to get the squad on the right track in preseason. Experience will be on Merrimack’s side as they boast 17 upperclassmen, including a strong junior contingent of 11 Warriors, while NE-10 All-Rookie selection and sophomore Gigi Guenther (Webster, Mass.) will look to help lead the contributions of the underclassmen.
Now embarking on his 33rd season at the helm, head coach Gabe Mejail and Merrimack will go up against an 18-game schedule in 2016, with nine of those contests taking place at Martone-Mejail Field.
