How It Happened
After setting the New England Intercollegiate record in the 400m last weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, Muscaro repeated that feat in the 500m this weekend, posting a time of 1:09.35 and breaking the 31-year-old record by more than a second and a half, and falling just short of the all-comers record. It is the #9 USA performance all-time at the 500m.
Freshman Mariessa Ricciardi (Holden, Mass.), who runs the 4x400m with Muscaro, had a quality showing in the 200m, running a time of 25.97 which ranks third on the school record board.
Junior Sarah Barnett (Bridgewater, Mass.) performed well in two different events for the women, finishing 15th in the shot put with an 11.20m throw, and finishing tied for 11th in the high jump with a 1.55m jump, tying with freshman Samantha Pineo (South Windsor, Conn.)in the event. Sophomore Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) and freshman Tori Daigle(Dayton, Maine) had nice outings in the long jump for the women as well, finishing 14th and 16th with jumps of 5.14m and 5.12m, respectively.
Braga NCAA Provisional Qualifying high jump of 2.04m for the men breaks his own school record in the event while earning him a third-place finish at the Scarlet and White Invitational. The junior also had a great outing in the pole vault, posting an eighth-place finish in the event (4.05m). Braga would also be joined by sophomores Christian Gentile(Melrose, Mass.), Connor Murphy (Paxton, Mass.) and freshman Jacob Robinson (Riverhead, N.Y.) in running a school-record time in the 4x400m relay at 3:24.24, finishing in ninth.
Former Northeast-10 Conference Track & Field Rookie of the Week freshman Michael Cuesta (South Portland, Maine) continued his impressive rookie campaign in Boston with a school record triple jump (13.80m) that placed sixth at the meet. Senior Denzel Livingston (Billerica, Mass.) finished right behind Cuesta, placing seventh in the event (13.29m). Cuesta also posted a 10th-place finish in the long jump at the invite with a 6.40m jump,.
