Alumni Report: Joe Cannata returns to the U.S. for the Norfolk Admirals
Former Merrimack goaltender Joe Cannata is back in the U.S. playing for the Norfolk Admirals. Cannata, a 2012 Merrimack grad, signed with the Admirals last week.
The Admirals are the ECHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose (AHL).
Cannata played in the DEL (Germany) last season for Löwen Frankfurt. Cannata has played in Europe since 2019, and before he spent last season in Germany he spent four seasons in Sweden in the SHL, mostly with Oskarshamn IK.
Cannata, 34, last played in teh U.S. in 2018-19 for the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL).
After graduating from Merrimack, Cannata spent four seasons with the Vancouver Canucks (2012-16) and he had other NHL stints with the Washington Capitals (2016-18), and Colorado Avalanche (2017-19).
