Alumni Report: Kovacevic seeing bigger role in Montreal

Former Merrimack defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic is seeing his role expand this season for the Montreal Canadiens.

A few weeks ago, Kovacevic was promoted to the top defensive pairing alongside Michael Matheson. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis has been tinkering with combinations the last two weeks, and while Kovacevic didn’t stick with Matheson, his ice time continues to become larger and he’s on Montreal’s top PK unit.
