Andres Marrero joins Merrimack as a grad transfer
Guard Andres Marrero announced his commitment to Merrimack out of the transfer portal after he spent three seasons at La Salle.
Originally from Venezuela, he played for Upper Room Christian School in New York before spending three seasons with the Explorers. Marrero has 83 games of NCAA experience with La Salle. He’s a career 34.5 percent 3-point shooter. In 2024, he averaged 7.9 points and shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc in 26 games.
Internationally, Marrero has represented Venezuela in various tournaments. He became the first high school player to represent Venezuela in a FIBA competition and was called up to the Senior Men’s Team in 2022 for the AmeriCup Qualifiers.
Unofficially, he’s the final addition to the 2025-26 men’s basketball roster. The new roster caps, which will be instituted (in some form) by the NCAA under the House settlement, will cap college basketball rosters at 15 players.
