Bryan Etumnu's career day helps Merrimack stay undefeated in the MAAC
Bryan Etumnu’s career-high 21 points helped Merrimack beat Manhattan 69-62 on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors improved to 8-8 on the season and remained undefeated (5-0) in the MAAC.
“It was a good conference game,” Gallo said. “We’re getting everyone’s best shot. They did what we do to people, turning turnovers into points for themselves. We went three straight games not playing from behind and we went down seven in the first half but battled back.”
Etumnu also had three blocks in the game and went 2 for 6 from 3-point range.
“It felt great,” Etumnu said. “All the work we put in during practices. … If we do our job on the court, nothing can stop us.
“Trust and confidence. Coach always trusts me. Some of those threes came off of screens. My teammates and my coaches help me have confidence.”
The Warriors are 7-2 in their last nine games.
Three Warriors scored in double figures, including Etumnu, Budd Clark (15 points), and Matt Becht (13 points). Sean Trumper led all players with 12 rebounds, including five offensive boards, and Clark had nine assists.
Defensively, the Warriors limited Manhattan to just 47.1 percent from 2-point range, generating 13 steals and 18 turnovers.
