Budd Clark named to Lou Henson Award Watch List
Merrimack guard Budd Clark was named on College Insider’s Lou Henson Award Watch List. The award is given annually to the best player in mid-major college basketball.
There were 50 players listed. Clark is one of three MAAC players on the list.
Clark averages 20.7 points per game through three games this season with 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Clark ranks No. 16 in the country in minutes percentage, playing 93.3 percent of Merrimack’s total minutes through three games. He’s ranked No. 10 in the nation in possession percentage and shots percentage.
The Lou Henson Award was established in 2010. Former winners include Norfolk State’s Kyle O’Quinn, who spent eight years in the NBA (Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, and Philadelphia 76ers), and Saint Mary’s Matthew Dellavedova, who spent 10 years in the NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Sacramento Kings).
The only sophomore to win the award was guard Max Abmas, who took it home in 2021 from Oral Roberts. Abmas played four years for Oral Roberts and transferred to Texas for his fifth season last year. After last season he signed with the Utah Jazz and currently plays for the G-League affiliate.
