Buffalo Sabres prospect Simon-Pier Brunet commits to Merrimack
The Merrimack men's hockey team received a commitment from Buffalo Sabres draft pick Simon-Pier Brunet.
Brunet is a 2005-born defenseman who the Sabres selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Draft. According to a post by the Drummondville Voltigeurs, where Brunt has played the last three seasons, he will head to Merrimack in 2026.
Brunet was an alternate captain for the Voltigeurs this past season and totaled 32 points (8g-24a) in 60 games.
From the Elite Prospects 2024 NHL Draft Guide:
Brunet motors up and down the ice with a sound skating posture for a player of his 6-foot-2 size. With his skating and reach, he denies space from the opposition, closes on them in transition, and guards the front of the net. Attackers can’t go through him. He walls them off from high-danger areas.
