Charlie Baker becomes NCAA president
Today marks the first day of Charlie Baker’s tenure as president of the NCAA, and the former Massachusetts governor did not wait long to make headlines.
In his first interview with Sportico, Baker seemed open to the notion that some college athletes should be paid. The key word there is “some.”
When asked directly if college football players - specifically SEC players — should be paid, Baker said: "I guess what I would say is that I’m planning to have a conversation with the membership about change. We’ll see what that kind of change can look like. But I certainly believe there will be change.”
