Cooper signs with Houston Texans
Former Merrimack offensive lineman Sam Cooper has signed with the Houston Texans, according to multiple reports. Cooper, who graduated from Merrimack last year, was signed to Houston’s practice squad.
Cooper originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent following the NFL Draft. Cooper had worked out previously for the Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, and New York Jets.
Cooper, who was originally born in Nigeria and is a Bensalem, Pa. native, was invited to a number of prestigious All-Star games including the East/West Shrine Game, NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, the Hula Bowl, and the Tropical Bowl. After strong performances in the postseason All-Star Games, Cooper participated at his Pro Day in front of 10 NFL teams on Merrimack's campus.
The Texans have two games left in the regular season. They’ll visit the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and then host the Tennessee Titans on Jan. 9 to close the season.
