Easton Daneault commits to Merrimack
Easton Daneault is following in his brother's footsteps.
The 2008-born forward from Red Deer, Alb. committed to Merrimack on Friday. Easton is the younger brother of Merrimack sophomore forward Ty Daneault.
Easton Daneault is a 4-star prospect, according to Neutral Zone. The 16-year-old is a rookie in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season and already has 10 points (4g-6a) in nine games. He's currently tied for seventh in the AJHL in scoring. However, he's the only '08 in the top 20. There isn't even an '07 in the top 20. Most of the players Daneault is tied or ahead of in the scoring race are '04, '05, or '06 birth years.
There are only 13 players from the '08 birth year in the league this season. There are 49 U18 players ('08 or '07) in the AJHL this season, and Daneault leads that group in scoring.
The earliest Daneault could arrive at Merrimack is for the 2026-27 season.
