5:45 to play still 2-2. Merrimack doing a better job since tying the score. PP hasn't looked good in either chance this period. Draws a problem there. Lowell with dumps off D-zone faceoff wins on the PK kills time and is making it hard for MC to get anything going.
Mike...watching game on ESPN+ and I am noticing the space behind the net is greater at UML vs at MC yet both rinks have the same ice surface size 200’ x 85’ if I’m right...is this correct ?
Mark Hillier scored the goal on a deflection. Dennison had the initial shot from the point and he got taken out as soon as he shot it. Good job by Hillier to create traffic and get this stick on the shot.
Third period is underway. The Warriors are without Zach Bookman. He's not on the bench (he left in the 2nd period) and Merrimack's trainer is also not on the bench.
Lowell is challenging for a major penalty at this whistle. There was a scrum after the play. I can only assume it was something they saw in that scrum. I saw a lot of players pushing and shoving so not sure specifically what they are looking at.
Merrimack strung together a bunch of good shifts in a row but Lowell had its best shift in a while right before the media timeout. Ollas with some big saves. Warriors possessed the puck most of the 4v4 and the shifts thereafter until just before the whistle.
Overall another (somewhat) boring period between these two teams, but that's the way Lowell plays. Merrimack defending well so there weren't many chances at either end. It says something that Merrimack's best chance came off a draw. SOG 7-7. Overall an even period, even if it was somewhat uneventful.
Merrimack going on the PK. Wattvil to the box. Honestly didn't see the penalty. This press box isn't great. If you're in the second tier (which I am) you can't see one of the corners or most of the near side of the ice.
Welcome to tonight's live chat/blog. Merrimack and UMass Lowell will hit the ice for warmups in about three minutes. We'll confirm Pavicich is starting for Lowell. Ollas is starting for Merrimack, I was told.
Goal confirmed. Game over. Lowell wins 3-2 in OT.
Merrimack will challenge - might as well - but I don't see this being overturned.
LOWELL GOAL: UMass Lowell wins it 3-2 in overtime.
Timeout Lowell.
Warriors give up a 2-on-1 and take a penalty. Lowell to the PP in OT. 4v3.
End of 3: Merrimack and Lowell headed to OT tied 2-2.
11-20-24 the only F line together from the start of the game. After Gallant was tossed, Daneault was just taking his spot.
Lines are a little shook up here.

Merrimack to the PP here
Mark Hillier scored the goal on a deflection. Dennison had the initial shot from the point and he got taken out as soon as he shot it. Good job by Hillier to create traffic and get this stick on the shot.
MERRIMACK GOAL: Warriors tie it up 2-2 with 9:43 to play.
8:00 into the 3rd period. I don't have Merrimack as winning a shift yet in the 3rd. 0-3 with a bunch of 50/50 shifts.
Merrimack to the PP.
Disaster of a start for the Warriors in the 3rd period. They lose the draw and get stuck defending for a full shift. Lowell capitalizes with a goal.
LOWELL GOAL: Lowell leads 2-1 with 19:15 left in the 3rd period.
Third period is underway. The Warriors are without Zach Bookman. He's not on the bench (he left in the 2nd period) and Merrimack's trainer is also not on the bench.
End of 2: Merrimack and Lowell tied 1-1.
Warriors kill the major. Very good PK. I only had them losing 1 shift the entire PK
Major for facemasking and a game misconduct
Whatever the challenge was for, it was successful. Gallant is called for a major. He's getting 5 and a game.
Zach Bookman is headed to the locker room with a trainer during this break

Matching minors coming. Welsher hit Cooper behind the net. It's a HEA special (penalty + embellishment).
Matt Crasa wins a puck battle in the corner and finds Scout Truman for a 1-timer in the slot.
LOWELL GOAL: River Hawks tied it up, 1-1
Young to the bench after taking a hard hit. Live speed it looked like it might have been high but on replay I think it was shoulder-on-shoulder.
Teams on the ice for the 2nd period.

That's Jefferies' sixth goal in six games since returning earlier this month.
End of 1: Merrimack leads 1-0 on Jefferies' goal with 45 seconds left in the period.
Alex Jefferies with another snipe off a faceoff win by Matt Copponi.
MERRIMACK GOAL: Warriors take a 1-0 lead over Lowell with 45.3 left in the 1st period
Penalty expires. Wattvil right into the zone.
Good block and clear by Bookman.
21-10, 2-8 out next.
Next uit 19-18, 37-23.
17-28, 2-8 the first unit of PK'ers
On replay - Wattvil's stick got tangled up with a Lowell player in the corner. Trip.

Great chance by Sacco in front. Merrimack's best of the period. The 4th line has done some good work.
The game is following the script from the other night so far. Not many chances. Merrimack doing a good job clogging the middle.
Merrimack and Lowell underway from the Tsongas Center.
Teams are about to take the ice for intros.
No, it's not Pavicich. Lowell had been rotating like Merrimack. Henry Welsch led the River Hawks on the ice. It's Welsch vs. Ollas tonight.
