Merrimack announced Friday morning that AD Jeremy Gibson has signed a multi-year contract extension. Gibson will now have the title of Vice President and Director of Athletics.
Gibson is currently in his 11th year as head of the department. He led the program through its transition to D-I, and more recently, its transition to the MAAC from the NEC.
“I am deeply appreciative of President Hopey, Executive Vice President Jeffrey Doggett and the Board of Trustees for their passionate support of our athletics program and for their faith in me to lead it,” said Gibson, “I am so fortunate to be able to work every day with our amazing student-athletes and the most talented and dedicated coaches and administrators in the country.”
Gibson has also overseen several facility improvements, including adding Duane Stadium in 2017 and the recent renovations to Lawler Arena.
“Jeremy has played a pivotal role in elevating Merrimack Athletics to levels our college community could only dream of just a few years ago,” said Merrimack College President Christopher E. Hopey, Ph.D. “I look forward to continuing to work with him to further enhance the Merrimack brand at the national level and support our more than 700 student-athletes, as well as our coaches and athletics staff, to greater success.”
Well deserved. Jeremy has done a great job in getting MC into Division1.
