Gill, Lalonde, Borek named finalists for Hockey East awards
Merrimack head coach Scott Borek, along with freshmen Justin Gill and Parker Lalonde, were named finalists for Hockey East awards this week..
Borek is a finalist for Coach of the Year for the second time during his tenure at Merrimack. He was also a finalist in 2023, when the award ultimately went to Boston University’s Jay Pandolfo.
Gill and Lalonde were both named finalists for the league’s Rookie of the Year honor.
Borek has guided Merrimack to 19 wins this season (19-5-2), tied for the third-best total in program history during its Hockey East era. The Warriors will play in the Hockey East semifinals at TD Garden on Friday for the fourth time in program history, and Borek is now the only coach in school history to lead Merrimack to that stage twice (2023, 2026).
Lalonde enters the weekend as the league’s top-scoring rookie and ranks fourth overall in Hockey East scoring with 22 points in 23 league games (10 goals, 12 assists). Overall, he has 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in 35 games this season.
Gill has 19 points in 21 league games, including 12 goals. He, too, has produced 35 points overall (16 goals, 19 assists) in 33 games.
