Northeastern goaltender Devon Levi beat out Merrimack forward Alex Jefferies for Hockey East Player of the Year, and BU head coach Jay Pandolfo edged out Merrimack coach Scott Borek for Coach of the Year. Hockey East announced its league awards on Wednesday morning.
Levi led Hockey East in save percentage (.947), goals against average (1.81), saves (753), and shutouts (6) while tying for the lead with 14 wins in 23 league games. He played more minutes (1393:01) than any other conference netminder. He currently leads the NCAA in overall save percentage (.931), his 1,066 saves are third-best, and six overall shutouts are fourth-most in the nation.
Pandolfo is the second consecutive first-year head coach to win the Bob Kullen Award presented by Bauer, following Jerry Keefe. Pandolfo guided the Terriers to their 11th Hockey East regular season crown and their first outright title win since 2014-15. They posted an 18-6-0 record in league play and no team has won more games in Hockey East since 2011-12.
