Merrimack goaltender Hugo Ollas signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers on Friday, sources tell The Mack Report. The deal is expected to be announced later today.
Ollas just completed his junior season with the Warriors and had a 2.84 GAA and .908 save percentage in 21 games.
The Rangers drafted the 6-foot-8 goalie from Linkoping, Sweden in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Ollas became the first goalie to sign out of Merrimack since Collin Delia signed with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017. Ollas is the first player in Merrimack's history to sign his first NHL contract with the New York Rangers.
Good luck, Hugo. Thanks for three great seasons.
