Jimmy Langhurst added to Merrimack men's basketball staff
Merrimack basketball coach Joe Gallo hired Jimmy Langhurst to fill out his coaching staff. Langhurst replaces Phil Gaetano, who joined the staff at Saint Louis last month.
Langhurst has spent the last two seasons at Stonehill College.
Langhurst joins a staff that already includes Micky Burtnyk (assistant), Juvaris Hayes (assistant), Chris Mohr (assistant), and Cedric Gillette (grad assistant).
Langhurst played at Robert Morris from 2006-10 and participated in two NCAA Tournaments as a player. He was also the director of operations at Robert Morris before joining Stonehill as an assistant coach.
Gallo was an assistant at Robert Morris from 2012-16. Although they never worked together at RMU, both worked under Robert Morris coach Andrew Toole.
"I am thrilled to welcome Jimmy to our coaching staff", said Gallo. "We always talk about how hard it is to win, and Jimmy has been a part of a lot of winning in both his playing and coaching careers. He won two conference championships as a player at Robert Morris and then followed that up with four as a coach. I have known Jimmy for a long time. He will bring great energy to our gym every day and will be a huge asset for our players. I would also like to welcome his wife Caroline and son EJ to our Warrior family."
Langhurst helped the Skyhawks transition to D-I and the NEC last season. Stonehill went 10-6 in its first year in the NEC as a D-I program.
Langhurst also coached at Le Moyne as an assistant coach. While at Le Moyne, he was named an Under Armor 30 Under 30 award recipient from the NABC, and was tabbed as the No. 9 ranked Division II Men's Assistant Coach by CoachStat.net. Langhurst’s coaching career began in 2014 with Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
