Jordan Derkack commits to Rutgers

Former Merrimack guard Jordan Derkack committed to Rutgers out of the transfer portal.

Derkack started all 32 games for Merrimack last season and averaged 17 points, six rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals.

Rutgers won out over Seton Hall and Penn State. Derkack is from Colonia, N.J., and wanted to play closer to home.

"It starts with being a kid in New Jersey playing basketball; you want to be that one day," he said. "I get to come home and play in front of my family every game, it’s going to be a really cool experience."
