Kevair Kennedy and Ernest Shelton will enter the transfer portal
Merrimack freshman guard Kevair Kennedy plans to enter the transfer portal, confirming the news to Joe Tipton of On3.
In addition, The Field of 68 reported Tuesday morning that Ernest Shelton also intends to enter the portal. It was reported last week that big man KC Ugwuakazi plans to transfer as well.
Kennedy just completed a remarkable freshman campaign with the Warriors, earning MAAC Player of the Year honors — becoming the first freshman in the league’s 44-year history to do so. He also captured MAAC Rookie of the Year, sweeping both awards unanimously while also earning a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team.
Kennedy was named MAAC Rookie of the Week seven times.
The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season, emerging as one of the most dynamic newcomers in the country.
Shelton, meanwhile, was also a First Team All-MAAC selection, averaging 15.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
