Q. I saw news on X that Yaroslav Bryzgalov is not going to Merrimack this year and will instead play another season in the WHL. Is he still planning to come to Merrimack in 2027? Why do you think he changed his mind so late? Are we searching for a replacement forward now?
The decision on Yaroslav Bryzgalov was made after the NHL Draft. Merrimack was expecting him to join the roster for the 2026-27 season, but after he was drafted by Vancouver, the decision was made that he would spend another year in the WHL with Medicine Hat.
As far as I am aware, he remains committed to the Warriors, likely for the 2027-28 season.
With CHL players, many of these decisions aren’t being finalized until after the draft. Because this decision came after Bryzgalov was selected, I’m guessing the Vancouver Canucks had some input regarding where he would play this upcoming season.
