Matt Copponi suspended one game for hit on Cade Webber

Merrimack junior forward Matt Copponi has been suspended for one game by Hockey East. The league suspended Copponi for his hit on Cade Webber at the 1:19 mark of the second period in last night’s 4-1 Merrimack loss to BU.

Webber went to the BU locker room after the play but was able to return to the game later in the second period.

Copponi will miss tonight’s rematch with BU at Agganis Arena and be eligible to return to the lineup on Dec. 8 against Yale.
