BOSTON — Javante McCoy’s 28-footer with 2.9 seconds left on the clock gave BU a 61-60 victory over Merrimack on Sunday afternoon. Ziggy Reid couldn’t convert on a three-pointer at the final buzzer.
Merrimack led for much of the game. The Warriors held a 37-30 lead at halftime and held the lead for the entire second half until McKoy’s bucket in the final seconds.
Jordan Minor led the Warriors with 16 points. Reid had 12 points and Mikey Watkins finished with 11 points. Minor posted a double-double on the afternoon, also pulling down 10 rebounds. Watkins led the team with six assists.
The Warriors forced 10 steals; Watkins led the team with four and Minor had three.
Minor hit a layup and 46 seconds left which put the Warriors up by four points. Two free throws by the Terriers with 21 seconds left cut the Warrior advantage to two (60-58). That set the stage for McCoy’s three with 2.9 on the clock.
McCoy led all scorers with 20 points.
The Warriors fell to 4-4 with the loss while BU moved to 5-3.
