Merrimack comes from behind to beat Iona in OT
Budd Clark’s mid-range jumper in the final seconds tied the game, and the Warriors rolled in overtime to beat Iona, 77-70, on Sunday afternoon, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Clark had 27 points to lead the Warriors.
Bryan Etumnu opened the extra period with a 3-pointer for Merrimack, Devon Savage followed with two free throws, and the Warriors stayed in front from there.
Clark added eight rebounds and seven assists for the Warriors (15-13, 12-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Savage and freshman guard Tye Dorset both scored 12 points. Etumnu had seven points and nine rebounds to go with six blocked shots.
The Warriors are 1.5 games behind Marist and Quinnipiac for first place in the MAAC. Merrimack will face both teams in the final two weeks of the regular season.
