Merrimack completes sweep of UMass Lowell
NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack completed a weekend sweep of UMass Lowell with a 2-0 victory on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
Alex Jefferies and Ottoville Leppanen scored for the Warriors. Jefferies also assisted on Leppanen’s goal, which gives him 40 points on the season. Jefferies became the first 40-point scorer for the Warriors since Stephane Da Costa (2010-11).
Hugo Ollas made 36 saves to earn the shutout.
With the sweep, Merrimack claimed its 20th win of the season. This is just the second time Merrimack has reached the 20-win plateau in the Hockey East era of the program.
A crowd of 3,052 watched the Merrimack victory; it was the third straight sellout at Lawler Arena this season. Merrimack honored its senior class before the game.
