Merrimack football adds second FBS game against UConn
The Merrimack football team will play at UConn in 2024.
Merrimack already has an FBS game scheduled for Aug. 31 against Air Force. The Warriors have never faced UConn in football, but the athletic departments have been regular opponents in Hockey East for the last decade.
UConn went 3-9 this season as a D-I FBS independent.
There is no date attached to the game. UConn plays its home games at Rentschler Field outside of Hartford. The stadium seats about 40,000 fans. Rentschler Field was built after plans fell apart for the New England Patriots move to Hartford in the late-‘90s.
In addition to UConn football, Rentschler Field has also hosted dozens of international soccer games, the NCAA lacrosse championship, and several concerts (The Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen among them).
Merrimack also has a game scheduled at Fordham (Nov. 23), and the Warriors will host Dartmouth on Sept. 28. Fordham is scheduled to return the game in 2025 and play at Duane Stadium.
