Merrimack Football NFL Draft and transfer portal notes as offseason begins
— Jermaine Corbett was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award by Stats Perform. Corbett was also named the George H. Bulger Award winner by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award is given to the best college FCS player in New England.
Corbett finished this season with 1,058 rushing yards and 12 total touchdowns. He had 204 receiving yards on 20 catches and had five 100-yard games.
Corbett was named All-New England by the New England Football Writers, along with defensive lineman Nick Lenon.
— Multiple players announced via social media that they have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
DL Jay Thompson, 6-2/240: Finished this season with 48 tackles, nine sacks, and 11.5 TFLs. He also forced two fumbles. Over the last three seasons, he has appeared in 33 games with 113 tackles, 14 sacks, 21.5 TFLs, and three forced fumbles.
DL Tyler Leavy, 5-11/290: In 11 games this season, he had 27 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 4.5 TFLs. Over the last three seasons, he has appeared in 32 games with 76 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 16.5 TFLs.
RB Jermaine Corbett, 5-9/195: As pointed out above, Corbett drove Merrimack’s bus offensively this season with 1,262 combined rushing/receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns.
S Donte Williams, 5-9/190: Williams has been a primary player for the Warriors in the secondary for the last four seasons. In 10 games this season, he had 38 tackles and three interceptions. Over the last four seasons, he has appeared in 43 games with 176 tackles and six interceptions.
DB Grant Jackson, 5-10/190: Jackson has 35 tackles and three interceptions over the last two seasons. NFLDraftDiamonds recently featured Jackson as a prospect to watch ahead of the draft.
K Lliam Davis, 5-8/190: Davis has a big leg, hitting a career-long 53-yard field goal this season. He hit 32 of 44 field goals at Merrimack (74%), and 48 of his 169 kickoffs were touchbacks. Davis did not have a kick blocked in his NCAA career.
— Quarterback Justin Lewis will enter the transfer portal. That’s not a huge surprise, with Ayden Pereira seemingly locking down the QB1 spot this season. Lewis did get some playing time earlier in the year before Pereira won the full-time job. He finished this season 14 for 19 for 165 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
