QMJHL Forward Alex Mercier Commits to Merrimack
Merrimack has secured a commitment from forward Alex Mercier, a 2005-born standout from the QMJHL.
Mercier has been on the radar of several Hockey East programs since last spring, thanks to a breakout season with the Moncton Wildcats. In 64 games, he posted 64 points (30 goals, 34 assists). He also led Moncton in scoring during the Memorial Cup, producing five points in four games on a roster that featured Utah’s first-round pick, Caleb Desnoyers (No. 4 overall).
Neutral Zone has long praised Mercier for the way his skating drives his offensive game.
"Alex is an undersized forward with a strong work ethic and a surprising skillset that compensates for his lack of height. His skating ability and tenacity make him a valuable offensive contributor despite his size.
Alex exhibits exceptional skating ability, particularly in tight spaces. His great spin and evade tactics allow him to maintain puck possession and maneuver around defenders in the offensive zone."
Mercier projects as part of Merrimack’s 2026 recruiting class. TMR will release full projections on the 2026 group later this season. For now, recruits are listed by birth year in our tracker, which can be viewed at the link below.
