Merrimack Names Hillier, Fitzpatrick Captains for 2025-26

Ty Daneault and Seamus Powell will serve as alternate captains

Mark Hillier and Caelan Fitzpatrick will serve as Merrimack captains for the 2025-26 season, with Ty Daneault and Seamus Powell taking on alternate captain roles.

Fitzpatrick may be the first sophomore in program history to wear the “C.” Merrimack has had three-year captains before — most recently Jared Kolquist and Jordan Heywood — but at least one of those seasons was spent as an alternate. According to TMR records (which might be incomplete, particularly regarding teams from the 1970s and 1980s), there has not been a player who has worn the “C” for three seasons.

Hillier returns to the lineup as a graduate student after missing all of last season with an injury suffered in training camp. Two years ago, he recorded 19 points in 35 games.

Daneault and Powell, both juniors, step into leadership positions as well.

The Warriors open their season next Friday, Oct. 3, on the road at UMass Lowell.
