Ed. Note — Due to travel, coverage on Saturday (1/13) for men's basketball and men's hockey was limited (and late). I was in Buffalo this past weekend and traveled Saturday night to beat the major winter storm hitting the area. Our coverage will resume, as usual, this week.
Jordan Derkack scored 19 points as Merrimack beat Le Moyne 66-62 on Saturday.
Derkack added seven rebounds for the Warriors (9-8, 3-0 Northeast Conference). Adam Clark scored 10 points and added five assists. Bryan Etumnu finished 4 of 6 from the field to finish with nine points.
The Dolphins (6-10, 1-1) were led by Kaiyem Cleary, who posted 16 points. Le Moyne also got 10 points from Nate Fouts. In addition, AJ Dancier finished with seven points and six rebounds.
NOTES: The Warriors had eight steals, including two each from Derkack, Clark, and Devon Savage. ... Derkack led the team with seven rebounds.
NEXT: Merrimack remains on the road and will play at Central Connecticut on Monday at 4 p.m. CCSU also enters the game perfect in NEC play (2-0) after wins over Saint Francis and Stonehill.
Derkack is worth watching every game of his career and he has talented help. MC is a fun team - tenacious defense and versatile offense. My only question- how does a school in Syracuse get a dolphin as a mascot?
