Merrimack will host Northeastern on Wednesday in HEA playoffs

Providence defeated Northeastern 3-2 on Saturday night at Matthews Arena, which clinched the final home-ice spot for Merrimack in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs.

The Warriors will host Northeastern at Lawler Arena on Wednesday. It will be Merrimack’s first home playoff game since a double-overtime win over Boston College in the Hockey East quarterfinals in 2023.

Merrimack went 2-1 against Northeastern this season; the Huskies won the latest matchup this past Thursday at Merrimack.

This will also be a rematch of last year’s opening round. Northeastern defeated Merrimack 4-0 in the first round last season at Matthews Arena.

Merrimack has never hosted Northeastern in the playoffs.
