Merrimack will travel to VCU in November
Merrimack men’s basketball will travel to VCU on November 13 according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
VCU went 24-14 last season (11-7 in the Atlantic 10) and reached the quarterfinals of the NIT with wins over Villanova and South Florida. The Rams were A10 finalists, falling to Duquesne in the championship game.
This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.
VCU plays its home games at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Va. The building seats 7,637 for basketball.
There’s another Merrimack connection with VCU ... VCU athletic director Ed McLaughlin started his administrative career at Merrimack where he was Assistant Athletic Director in charge of facilities, operations, and sport supervision from 1998-00. He’s entering his 13th season as AD of VCU.
After leaving Merrimack in 2000, he was an Associate AD at American Univeristy (2000-06) and then the AD at Niagara (2006-12) before taking the position at VCU. McLaughin worked in media relations for Hockey East before taking a job at Merrimack in 1998.
