Postgame: BU 3, Merrimack 2 (OT)

BOSTON — Boston University edged Merrimack 3-2 in overtime on Friday night at Agganis Arena.

Jonathan Morello opened the scoring for BU at 11:04 of the first period, striking just seconds after a power play had expired.

The Warriors answered 3:36 later when Benny Yurchuk buried his first NCAA goal, and Justin Gill gave Merrimack a 2-1 lead with 2:07 remaining in the opening frame.

That score held until the late stages of regulation. Jack Murtagh tied the game at 2-2 with 3:30 left in the third period, setting the stage for overtime.

It didn’t take long for the Terriers to end it — Cole Hutson scored just 21 seconds into the extra frame to lift BU to the win.
