Pregame: Merrimack vs. UMass Lowell (HEA Semifinals)
BOSTON — The stage has been set.
Merrimack and UMass Lowell will play in the Hockey East semifinals tonight at TD Garden in Boston. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30, but that’s predicated on the first semifinal between BU and Providence ending on time (it’s currently tied, 1-1).
Merrimack will roll with the same lineup it did last week against Boston College. The only difference is that Zachary Borgiel will start in goal for the Warriors, keeping with the rotation the goaltenders have been in all season.
Pregame Notes
It’s a busy day for the Felton family. Not only is Christian Felton playing in the Hockey East semifinals tonight at TD Garden, but down the highway a bit in Marlborough, his brother Collin Felton is playing in the ACHA National Championships for Ohio University. Ohio is currently tied, 0-0, against Illinois State. Ohio is the No. 2 overall seed in the Division I bracket.
The last time Merrimack played in this building, Scott Borek was in attendance, but he was on the other side. Borek was an assistant coach on the UNH team that Merrimack beat in the 2011 Hockey East semifinals.
